The village of Fairburn is located within the District of Selby on the borders of North and West Yorkshire and is on the edge of a magnesian limestone ridge, north east of the river Aire. For many years the village straddled the A1, now thankfully by-passed. It’s population (808 people in 347 dwellings in the 2001 census) has seen many changes, especially during the past century.
